Anti-Bullying News from Mason High School - Summit Campus

                    Anti-Bullying Skits
On the first day of school, groups of students from each seminar classroom created skits depicting various examples of bullying and then contrasting skits on how to handle those situations.  Later, the skits were preformed in a whole school assembly with each teacher leading a discussion about the various scenarios.
                    Anti-Bullying Signage
Each seminar class will design anti-bullying posters and create anti-bullying displays on bulletin boards as the year progresses.  Anti-bullying signs have been displayed throughout the building.
                    Anti-Bullying Shirts
Mr. Jeremy Mills is having twenty t-shirts made with anti-bullying slogans.  Staff and select students will wear the t-shirts on random Fridays during the school year.  We will also sell anti-bullying shirts in our school store and during the end-of-trimester auctions.
                    Why Try?
Mr. Jeremy Mills and Ms. Karen Harvey will be teaching "Why Try" lessons to Mr. Mills' seminar class during first trimester.  The Why Try curriculum has components that focus on both anti-bullying and school violence.  Ms. Harvey will rotate to Mr. Kinney's seminar class second trimester, and then to the new science teacher's seminar class during third trimester.  Ms. Harvey piloted this curriculum last year during third trimester with Ms. Hunter's seminar class.
                    Anonymous Reporting System
MHS - Summit Campus administration and faculty members are working on creating a system for students to anonymously inform staff about bullying that is occurring both inside and outside of school.
